Mel Savarese, DDSMel Savarese

Mel Savarese was born and raised in Winchester, Virginia. He attended Hampden-Sydney College, studying Biology and playing football, before beginning his studies at the VCU School of Dentistry. In his spare time, he enjoys mountain biking, surfing, rock climbing, backpacking and playing sports. As a MOM project and CARITAS coordinator he have found a passion for community service and is excited to help those in need by serving on the VDAF Board of Directors. After graduation from dental school in 2021, he will pursue additional education at a 1 year general practice residency. Mel hopes to practice general dentistry in Virginia and ultimately transition to a career in academia.

“P.G. grew up in New Jersey, the son of immigrant parents, and in 1944, barely of age, he enlisted in the army, specifically the paratroopers. P.G. was on only his second combat jump when he was captured by German troops and placed briefly in a concentration camp. By the grace of God, this was April,1945, and in approximately one month this camp was liberated by the allies, and P.G. survived.
